One September for Inclusion: 12 months 12 causes.
According to UNESCO, inclusion is an approach that responds positively to the diversity of people and individual differences, understanding that diversity is not a problem, but an opportunity for the enrichment of society, through active participation in family life, education, at work and in general in all social, cultural and community processes.
At SOLTRA we have been working for 20 years for the inclusion of people with different skills through employment. We are convinced that work is one of the main ways to achieve the full exercise of the rights of people with different capacities. Employment promotes autonomy, self-esteem and professional realization, as well as providing benefits for the whole community, as it promotes social cohesion and allows to take advantage of the human capital of this group.
The diversity of profiles is to understand, accept and value the differences between the people who make up a team. In recent years, employment data for people with disabilities have improved markedly, but there are still many stigmas and prejudices surrounding disability and curbing their socio-labor inclusion.
The capabilities of the people of this group and their potential contribution to the business environment often go unnoticed and what they cannot do is highlighted more than what YES can do. The goal is to get them the opportunity to enjoy full lives on an equal footing with others. To do this, it is important to emphasize that people with disabilities, like all people, have strengths, weaknesses and opportunities for improvement. Most professionals who work with them consider that they have brought differential value to their teams, bringing different talents and abilities such as their teson and constancy. Barriers are not found in people, but in the environment.
An inclusive society is one that recognizes that all people have the same value, only because of human status and never leaves anyone behind.
