SOLTRA awarded by the CGPJ for its work for employment inclusion
At the 15th edition of the awards held last Friday at the headquarters of the Judiciary in Madrid, SOLTRA has been the entity awarded with the recognition “to a business action” for its commitment to the integration of people with disabilities in the workplace.
The Director General of the entity, Mr. Jose Antonio Idoeta received the award from the Minister of Justice, Ms. Pilar Llop. In his speech, Idoeta pointed out the importance of people in achieving the objective of Inclusion, stressing that “we are all capable, so we must talk about capabilities, rights and opportunities”.
The award “for a professional career” went to the lieutenant public prosecutor of the Valencian Community, Gonzalo López Ebri, for his work as coordinating prosecutor of the civil order and the protection of people with disabilities, through which he managed to bring to light abuses and irregularities committed by guardians. López Ebri is responsible for the elimination from the Penal Code of the excuse of acquittal in relation to property crimes committed between family members when there is abuse of the victim’s situation of vulnerability.
In the category “to an institution”, the Forum’s recognition went to AMAI BPD, a non-profit foundation whose purpose is to help people with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and their families both in the field of healthcare and learning, as well as in their social integration, among others.
Finally, the recognition “to a social media” has been awarded to the journalist with disabilities Juan Antonio Ledesma, for his contribution to give visibility to this group through his professional activity in various media and entities.
The president of the General Council of the Judiciary, Rafael Mozo, has encouraged all institutions and society as a whole to continue working to break down the barriers that continue to hinder access to justice for people with disabilities; barriers that “are not insurmountable”.
The organisation of these awards reflects the importance that the social commitment to this cause has for all the members of the institution and that it helps “to promote greater awareness of it, giving greater visibility not only to the challenges but also to the progressive advances that are being made in the field of disability”.
